Do not work here unless you like being degraded
The good thingsTraining across multiple departments was useful
The challengesManagement is a hit or miss, in my experience some of the supervisors were extremely unprofessional and would find any reason to target me. A few employees receive special treatment because they are well liked by managers while others are meticulously micromanaged for no apparent reason.

A great place to work if you peaked in high school.
The good thingsTeam is usually pretty friendly. The regulars are really sweet for the most part.
The challengesManagement on all levels. Disparity between what and who is micromanaged and who can fly under the radar. Unattainable expectations from upper management regarding upselling.

My experience has been very good and I would definitely recommend to anyone
The good thingsI enjoy parties and Timezone it is super fun and the other employees are really nice and are always keen to help other employees out. The pay is really good
The challengesThe challenges would be starting out you might not get shifts for numerous weeks and I feel like there is quite a lot of pressure on kids satisfaction when sometimes it is quite hard to achieve that

One of the best places I have worked. The team is so friendly and accepting, they have been really supportive both at work and outside of work. I have made many friends that I know will be there for me when I need them
The good things- making new friends - friendly staff and environment - accepting of all
The challenges- remembering all the special deals we have on offer when it is holiday season

Great job as a base employee with the right team, just don't become management
The good thingsThe customers were mostly great (except league bowlers) Weekends could be fun with the right team and the right vibe
The challengesLeague bowlers are entitled and the organisation does nothing except make them think they walk on water Pay was low There was no flexibility, just an expectation for you to be on call 24/7 - especially once you became a manager you were literally expected to be there at 4am if an alarm went off with no additional pay

The challengesSometimes the culture can be horrible, but it really depends on who your venue manger is.

It's a good job to have while studying if you can't find somewhere to pay you well.
The good thingsFriendly atmosphere. The work is easy. Good people get rewarded, it's a functional meritocracy.
The challengesThey don't give enough shifts in the beginning or brief you on how to develop in the company and the pay is pretty ordinary

a can-do mindset will enable you to have fun and succeed!
The good thingsMy team and regular customers feel like family. Career progression (I begun as a party host and made my way to VM) Have always been supported by my State Manager to expand my knowledge and skillset. It really is a multifaceted business with so many areas to learn from. Being able to lead and manage my Venue with my own style.
The challengesWorking extra hours/shifts. Career progression is extremely limited after Venue Manager.

Plenty of broken promises from management since 2013.
The good thingsInitially was encouraged and trained in learning all aspects of running a ten pin bowling centre until management changed in 2013.
The challengesManagement structure and opportunites destroyed by bringing managers in from Bras \"n\" Things - and other industries who have no understanding of the ten pin bowling industry or the needs of bowlers.

Management is always stepping on you
The good thingsThe customers. If you can get on with the regulars and the league bowlers it will be some of the most rewarding customer relation experience you can ever receive.
The challengesBeing told by management that we can't do certain things when doing those things would make a better experience for customers.

A good first job for a young high school student looking to earn a small wage for savings.
The good thingsI created the best friendships with other staff & customers. I learned new skills and can apply those to work in the future.
The challengesThe needs of the staff weren't considered. During the almost 2 years of working there, I had 6-7 Venue and Assistant Venue managers. It was very inconsistent and this reflected on our workload and the environment we were working in.

Work there for fun, not for a career.
The good thingsGreat staff, fun environment to work in. Long open hours, so a lot of flexibility for different shift needs.
The challengesVery low pay, head office doesn't support employees and mess up the payments/tax/super. Technical problems happen often, so you have to deal with angry customers a lot. But the main problem is the pay and head office indifference.

Overall not a nice company to work for.
The good thingsWorking with some of the staff that was like having a second family.
The challengesExciting when you first start. Once you settle in reality sets in. Expected to work under staffed, barely any support from Regionals, Managers are expected to work overtime but only receive small incomes, with no penalty rates or overtime paid. Being yelled at and told how to do your job by horrible customers on a daily basis especially on flat out days. Expected to work night shifts and weekends leaves no work life balance. The high turn over of managers is redicilous. The amount of specials going at one time is hard to keep up with. Overall the expectations for staff ( especially Managers) by Regionals and Head Office is over the top.
