What's it like to be a Field Service Engineer?
Field Service Engineers are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery at customer locations. They often work in industries such as manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare and information technology. Their duties include troubleshooting technical issues, performing routine maintenance and providing technical support and training to customers. Field Service Engineers may travel frequently and work independently, often in different environments each day.
Tasks and duties
- Installing and configuring equipment and machinery at customer sites.
- Performing routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal functioning of equipment.
- Diagnosing technical issues to resolve faults and minimise downtime.
- Providing technical support and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Maintaining accurate records of service visits, repairs and maintenance activities.
- Collaborating with other Engineers and technical support staff to improve service processes and product performance.
