What's it like to be a Marketing Executive?
Marketing Executives plan, develop and oversee marketing campaigns to promote brands, products and services. They conduct market research, manage lower-value client relationships and support the Marketing Manager with their higher-value campaign work.
Tasks and duties
- Developing and overseeing marketing campaigns, including search, email, online and experiential events.
- Creating and distributing marketing collateral.
- Conducting market research activities.
- Copywriting and proofreading.
- Managing subscriber databases.
- Data entry and analysis.
- Reporting on key metrics.
- Social media planning and management.
- Attending client meetings, including taking briefs and incorporating feedback.
- Supporting the Marketing Manager and Director with campaigns.
How to become a Marketing Executive
Marketing Executives are usually required to hold a formal qualification in marketing.
- 1.Complete a Certificate IV of Marketing and Communication (BSB40820) or a Diploma of Marketing and Communication (BSB0620) at TAFE or through a registered training organisation.
- 2.Alternatively, complete a Bachelor of Marketing, Bachelor of Marketing and Communication, or Bachelor of Advertising at university. The course will take 3 years full-time, and can be delivered in a classroom or online. University education will require you to have completed year 12 or gain special admission.
- 3.You may be able to find a role without qualifications as a Marketing Assistant or Administrative Assistant and work your way up through the ranks as you gain knowledge and experience.
