A Frontend Developer is a software developer who specialises in building the user-facing elements of websites and other web-based content. They commonly work with programming languages like JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Tasks and duties
- Translating designs and wireframes into high quality code.
- Communicating with all colleagues regarding progress, decisions and documentation.
- Coordinating user interface (UI) deployments by following release and change processes.
- Providing recommendations for development and UI structural enhancements.
- Optimising components for maximum performance across a variety of web-capable devices and browsers.
How to become a Front End Developer
It is possible to work as a Frontend Developer without formal qualifications, although employers may prefer candidates with qualifications in Computer Science. You will need to be able to demonstrate your technical competencies to a prospective employer.
- 1.Complete a qualification in Computer Science with a focus on Software Development. This could be a Certificate IV in Information Technology (Programming) (ICT40120), a Diploma of Information Technology (ICT50220) or a Bachelor degree majoring in Software Development.
- 2.Aim to secure a placement in an internship program while studying. This will provide you with relevant experience as well as guidance and mentorship from experienced Developers.
