Toxic leadership, broken promises, and a workplace culture that prioritises control/profit over people
The good thingsHonestly, NOTHING, all went bad the moment this company took over. The only positive was gaining experience in handling difficult situations, as they will make your life harder by questioning every single decision you make and learning how not to run a team or business.
The challengesToxic and highly dysfunctional upper management with a strong culture of micromanagement and zero trust in managers. Constant pressure without proper support, unrealistic expectations, and no genuine focus on team wellbeing or long-term brand growth. Decisions are driven purely by short-term profit, often at the expense of staff morale and guest experience. Promised incentives and bonuses are not honoured, which leads to low trust and high turnover. Overall, a very draining and frustrating environment to work in.

Do what I say, not what I do, throw you under the bus senior management
The good thingsUnfortunately, any positives of this role were taken away by a very overbearing and inconsistent at times extremely aggressive management from 1834. The property has mountains of potential and with a structured refurbishment and some skill set staff the place would be hands down a gold mine operation.
The challengesthe structure and support of head office the lack of Loyalty and trust and integrity shown by senior management. Having to prove everything and even when you showed proof and integrity, they would still punish you for doing your job the Hotel needed money spent in the right places rooms and common areas as high priority to continue to grow the business.

1834 are full of promises that they don't deliver. They don't care about their employee's health or welfare, or what is best for the individual hotels they are managing remotely.
The good thingsI enjoyed my job for three years, until 1834 Hospitality took over managing our hotel remotely.
The challengesNo duty of care within the 1834 management team. The changes that have been made within our hotel have affected our entire team and our hotel and restaurant guests. Wage and staff costs have added so much stress that staff have been resigning.
