Not a good place to work at all, toxic workplace with no real values.I would strongly discourage.
The good thingsThe coworkers you make friends with and the customers you also make friends with.
The challengesManagement are toxic and lack transparency as it's all a one way street. This reflects a larger problem within the company: poor communication, lack of accountability from management, and a tendency to place blame on employees rather than address underlying issues. Staff concerns are not handled constructively, and employees often feel unsupported. Avoid like the plague.I would strongly discourage others from working here unless they are prepared for poor communication and minimal support from leadership

Prepare to be used up and spat out at management's discretion.
The good thingsThe pay is OK and you get to work with some good people.
The challengesManagement are on power trips that clash with supervisors. The shift manager speaks badly of staff members to colleagues (scare campaign). Yiu may not be rostered on for weeks without any prior warning or reason. Essentially, it is a toxic environment.

Management could have been better, but nonetheless allowed character growth.
The good thingsI enjoyed the relationships that had been made through the job and what I gained through the experience.
The challengesThe workload was excess where they expected the team to not only break the load, assist check outs, fill the shelves, provide customer service, sometimes help out with online orders, and keep the store clean, whilst expecting a team of 8-10 people to complete a 25+ pallet delivery in 4-8 hours.

I enjoyed working at Big W due to the collaborative team environment and shared drive for excellence, but I would hesitate to return because of management issues, low morale, and strategic challenges.
The good thingsI thoroughly enjoyed working at Big W because of the collaborative team environment. Everyone came together to work towards common goals, and there was a strong sense of teamwork and mutual support. The people I worked with were dedicated and hardworking, always willing to contribute and ensure that tasks were completed efficiently. I appreciated the collective effort and the drive for excellence, which fostered a motivating and positive workplace where we all strived for top performance.
The challengesI would be cautious about working at Big W due to some challenges within the organization, such as inconsistent senior management practices and a lack of clear direction. There were concerns around low morale and a perceived lack of engagement with employees' well-being and tenure. Additionally, decision-making is slow, and no focus on short-term results or long-term strategy. Overall, the company seemed to struggle with maintaining a strong customer focus and fostering a cohesive, inclusive culture. Lost all sight of the customer.

A great place to gain retail experience and teamwork skills, but can be demanding during peak times.
The good thingsBig W offers a supportive team environment with opportunities to learn retail and customer service skills. The work is fast-paced, and you get experience in different areas such as customer service, stocking, and checkout.
The challengesShifts can be physically demanding, with long hours on your feet, and sometimes staff levels can be low during busy periods, making the work more stressful.

The good thingsIn my current role, I handle sales transactions, maintain inventory, and organize product displays, ensuring a secure and positive environment. I assist customers with their inquiries and collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve store goals and provide a seamless shopping experience. Restocking and organizing merchandise on store shelves is also part of my duties, maintaining a well-stocked and organized sales floor. These responsibilities have developed my strong organizational and time-management skills, exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. I am detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and thrive as a quick learner under pressure. In my current role, I handle sales transactions, maintain inventory, and organize product displays, ensuring a secure and positive environment.
