They seek to uphold traditional Australian values but fail miserably when it comes to a “fair go”.
The good thingsStudents well mannered and well behaved. Most staff are friendly and would go out of their way to help you.
The challengesThe culture that stems from HR (aka People & Culture) and becomes evident by a concerted effort by all staff to “toe the line” and reluctant to disturb the status quo.

A school with heart and a spirit strong
The good thingsOverall, I loved working at the College. The staff are wonderful, the facilities are outstanding, and the students are genuinely a pleasure to teach. The opportunities and extracurricular programs offered are extensive, with a clear focus on supporting every student’s interests and talents. External professional development was encouraged and fully supported. Online systems are functional and working effectively. The roll out of a new LMS and updated to processes in other systems, was exceptionally well done. The department I worked in felt more like a second family than colleagues, and leaving was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. There is a genuine sense of care across the College, especially when staff face difficult circumstances. I know of several staff, myself included, who have been quietly supported in times of great need. These selfless acts, never publicised or performed for recognition, are what truly show that this is a school with heart.
The challengesThe staff culture took a noticeable dip a few years ago but there has been a conscious and genuine effort from senior leadership to rebuild and strengthen it over the past two years. Many positive changes have emerged from this, the overall culture has greatly improved and there is a collective effort in maintaining this by members of staff across the college. As with any large workplace, there remain a small number of negative Nancy's who hold on to past grievances rather than embrace the positive direction the College is moving in, but this does not reflect the broader staff experience. It would be great to see some more stability in the leadership team after some changes over the past few years.
