Disappointing experience - unethical, misleading and unfair.
The good thingsLocation was close to home
The challengesLack of honesty during recruitment process. No car park or suitable toilet. Worked nights on weekends. Resigned after passing probation due to how I was being treated. Weren't interested in feedback or making improvements.

Do not apply total scam when it comes to pay, work and safety
The good thingssome of the crew of the crew of blokes you work besides made some good friends
The challengesSupervision was not what I expected, seemed moody and straight out lied about hours and would want you to work for free and what had been done, did not care about safety and when issues raised never rectified, working away they don't give you alot of warning and was expecting nearly 2 hour drives, but you get half hour pay for it, turned into 12-13 hour days after travel some days and paid for 9

Unfortunately it's another case of a good, honest small company that values its employees turning into a big company that treats the majority of the employees as numbers.
The good thingsBeing mostly self managed was great, and 'some' managers are brilliant!
The challengesManagement have a "little boys club" mentally and promote mates as opposed to the best fit for the role. Management turn over and way too many chefs in the kitchen.

No one seems to know what anyone else is doing
The good thingsWorking away and overtime when you can get it
The challengesDisorganised. Extremely short notice for change of work location. Have been told will be working away with less than 24hrs notice. Block opportunities for O/T one week then push unrealistic quotas the next. Get told different things by different managers.

Quality and safety often overlooked to focus on profits
The good thingsLots of travel and different jobs everyday
The challengesManagement and culture need serious improvement. Safety and quality is greatly overlooked to focus on profit. A lot of good workers leave while bad influences rise up the ranks

    Body and soul destroying slog
The good thingsYou can get free mulch as long as you can take a whole truckload
The challengesExtremely high workload, be prepared to go away frequently, and at very short notice. Company has very poor internal communication and you have to organise your own accomodation for trips, which is hard when they give you no notice. They talk a big game about teamwork and safety, but on the ground it's a very different story. If you like being absolutely wiped out at the end of every day and getting extremely corporate responses to concerns you raise, this is the job for you. The only real training I was given was a basic induction on using the chipper and the only meaningful skill I gained was a truck licence I had to pay for myself. Fairly low wage considering the high workload required. Very little support for new workers for what they consider to be an "entry level" job.

I am so grateful for my time with Active, the great people that I have met and the opportunities for support and development that I have been given.
The good thingsThe teamwork commitment to team work and development is the best of any business that I've worked for. I am always supported in everything I do and safety is front of mind for everyone.
The challengesStarting in a large business and learning ways of working and quirks is tough but processes are developed and team dynamics make assimilation easy.

Continuously being exposed to different working environments and processes that is setting me up to succeed for my future goals.
The good thingsGreat culture, great training and development and a family-owned business that makes you feel a part of the 'Active Family'.
The challengesAlways having exposure to learn, grow and develop your role is awesome. Can become a challenge when you want to please everyone and have time restraints, however.

    A great place to work!
The good thingsA team environment where the people are really nice and there is excellent work-life balance. Active is a growing family business that understands and assists employees to balance work and personal life commitments.
The challengesThe business provides a very diverse service offering to multiple clients in multiple states. It does take a little while to understand the business, its history and how to best support it.
