    Relieving Shift Manager
    Feb 2026
Ingle Farm SA 50982 to 3 years in the role, current employee
    Utterly and completely mentally/emotionally draining.
The good thingsThe pay is competitive with other retailers and grocers but still doesn't justify the work and benchmarks they set.
The challengesThey expect 2 people to run an entire grocery store alone for 3-4 hours with each closing/opening task to be done exceeding standards. If this isnt achieved, they send messages threatening with "20 people have been terminated in the last 2 months". Since i started, we have had 3 different store managers, 3 different AREA Managers, and i have seen 10+ people come and go immediately, mainly due to the fact ALDI expects 1 person to do what it takes 3-4 Coles employees to do, AND in a shorter amount of time. The benchmarks are only rising, making them ridiculously unachievable, and the timeframes are only getting shorter. At Ingle Farm we constantly receive complaints from customers regarding the managers (people who are supposed to represent us as a team and set an example). ALDI are ridiculously inconsiderate of staff, the higher management have absolutely no clue how to treat staff and set achievable benchmarks since 90% of them have never worked in store.

Not worth it. Your mental and physical health will suffer here.
The good thingsOther Store Assistants were very friendly.
The challengesUnrealistic expectations, my ASM in particular had a very big ego.

Ingle Farm SA 50981 to 2 years in the role, current employee
I am grateful for the opportunity but with the influx of people shopping their is no extra hours or workers being added and it is impossible to achieve anything and it's horrible.
The good thingsopportunity to grow within the company is high, if you are good at your job
The challengesdays off don't exist, you are extremely understaffed and if you are working with people who don't care or aren't confident you are in for a hell of a time, area managers don't care about the store they only care about profits and expectations and if the expectations aren't being hit they don't focus on what needs to be improved and how to help they just tell you to do better.
