What’s it like working at ANZSOG?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate the welcoming and supportive colleagues at ANZSOG, describing staff as talented, kind, and collaborative, creating a warm environment with strong camaraderie. The flexibility and work-life balance are key strengths, with management demonstrating trust and focusing on outcomes. Staff value the meaningful mission of the organisation and feel empowered to do purposeful work. Management is approachable and supportive, and the modern office facilities provide a comfortable working environment with wonderful views.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as senior leadership experiencing changes and restructures that can create uncertainty. Decision-making processes may be perceived as top-down at times, with some staff indicating they would appreciate more consultation and transparency. Career pathways and professional development opportunities could be more clearly defined, and a more structured performance framework with regular check-ins would be beneficial. Additionally, some employees have mentioned that role descriptions don't always align with actual duties, which can create uncertainty about responsibilities.

    Disconnect between values and practice
The good things While this organisation presents itself externally as values-driven and people-focused, my internal experience did not align with this narrative.
The challengesSenior leadership lacked stability and capability, with frequent restructures creating ongoing uncertainty. These changes were typically implemented with little consultation or transparency, and without regard for existing skills or institutional knowledge. There was minimal recognition of individual expertise and limited opportunity for staff voices to be heard. Decision-making was largely top-down, with few genuine pathways for professional growth or talent development. A key concern was the disconnect between what the organisation teaches and what it practises. Significant effort is placed on maintaining a strong public image, but this is not matched by the same level of care for staff experience or, at times, client outcomes. Prospective employees are encouraged to look beyond the branding and ask detailed questions about leadership stability, consultation, and how employee capability is genuinely valued.

A great place to work, with amazing people and a strong sense of purpose.
The good thingsPeople, culture, flexibility and a clear vision are what make ANZSOG exceptional. The organisation’s greatest asset is its people—talented, supportive and collaborative professionals who create a stimulating and inspiring environment. The culture is innovative, warm and full of camaraderie, with a family-like feel (you’ll even see colleagues’ pets or kids in the office some days). Management is approachable and genuinely flexible, with a strong focus on trust and outcomes. You’re empowered to do meaningful work, not just tick boxes, and the commitment across the team is truly motivating. Most importantly, ANZSOG has a strong sense of purpose. I feel clear about the direction the organisation is heading, and supported by management along the way. It’s a great place to work with an outstanding culture and a clear path forward.
The challengesI’m not sure if this is already in place, but I believe ANZSOG would benefit from a clearer and more measurable performance framework. Having regular, structured check-ins would help ensure staff feel supported, allow the organisation to take a proactive rather than reactive approach when challenges arise, and strengthen a culture grounded in consistent, tangible achievements across the board.
