I truly enjoy working at Arcare North Shore and would have been more than happy to continue working there for the rest of my career if my personal responsibilities allowed it.
The good thingsGreat team orientation, lovely work environment/facility, bonus staff meal days (BBQ's Pizza, Pasta, Subway, Cheesecake shop cakes and treats), Fun shirt Fridays, Holiday season dress up competitions, Christmas party / gift bonuses.
The challengesWorking with aged care residents with early dementia can be rewarding but it can also be confronting.

I have just transfered to Northshore townsville from Portarlington Victoria. I enjoyed my time at Portarlington however their was a big issue with staff ratios due to sick leave there making the workload very hard for PCAs, Northshore appears to be better staffed at present time during my shifts.
The good thingsSupportive management, team work completed well, Staff seem to support each other in their roles.
The challengesStaff ratios currently on ward of 1/8 however at times unable to refill a shift if someone rings in sick late.

Terrible experience
The good thingsThe residents and the relationships built with them and their loved ones
The challengesSome staff treated other staff very poorly. Staff liked to control other staff and residents. Minimal support from management.
