It was on 21 September 1904 when two brothers, Hendrik A and Bernadus J Bakels, registered the first Bakels company in Amsterdam. The Bakels Group as we know it today is largely the result of the vision and lifetime work of the son of Bernardus, Bernard J Bakels. He led the company into manufacturing with the establishment, in 1943, of Nordbakels in Sweden.Through a mixture of investment and innovation additional companies, and successful products, were added through each decade up until his death in 1986. Since then this successful mix continues to be applied - investment increases every year to accompany innovative new products.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Australian Bakels value the friendly and supportive colleagues, above market salaries and accommodating work schedules. Some also enjoyed the company culture and found it a great business to work for. However, there are potential areas for improvement, with indications the company may struggle to adapt to market changes due to an 'old school mentality'. Additionally, some employees felt there could be more clarity around company vision, goals and processes from management. A few reviewers also noted challenges in finding new business and expanding the customer base to drive growth.

Incompetent management, Lack of training and support, incompetent HR officer, Outdated processes; inflexible change management; unclear company vision; conflicting values; inadequate support and clarity regarding goals and company mission; no transparency with work processes, don't like when team members speak up.
The good thingsWas a great job before they restructured and changed roles without offering redundancies.
The challengesFinding new business and remaining competitive, having high margins and a state sales manager that doesn't have much experience and understand the challenges themself.
