    It wasn't that bad. I was surprised there were so many multilinguals working at the airport.
    The good thingsstaff discount, not sure if the shop is still there.

    The challengesAbsolutely everything! AWPL was an awful company to be a part of. Regional management & head office is exceptionally appalling. They're stuck in the dark ages in terms of customer service expectations and what customers actually WANT out of an in store experience. SO antiquated.

    Terrible place to work
    The good thingsWorked with some nice people - not management though.
    The challengesThe only people who are valued and looked after are management. No chance of development or growth, would prefer to hire externally than train from existing employee pool. Extremely high staff turnover (not management, they have been there forever as they are looked after very well).

    Would definitely recommend working here.
    The good thingsthere was always work, if your store had no hours some of the other busy stores always needed people and there was always opportunities for overtime, the work is not very physically or mentally demanding, salary was very good and because there were many hours available you could make more money.
    The challengessome times they will swift you from morning shifts to night shifts which completely destroys your body, you feel so tired after waking up at 4 every day now you have to work till 11 at night so that was hard. also sometimes when there were no flights it will be extremely boring.

    The challengesUpper management / HR never listens to floor staff. You either do great or you’re nothing. No incentives no appreciation. Management and owner only cares about the daily and monthly target.

    Easy way to obtain leadership experience for the next role.
    The good thingsEasy to step up into team leader role if you show the initiative. Good coworkers. Customers are all very pleasant/great environment if you enjoy travelling. Good hours for casuals.
    The challengesVery disorganised company. No direction, culture is non existent. Pay is very VERY poor. Lots of staff working above their retail grade but receiving no compensation for it.

    The challengesRegional management is threatening and manipulative. Head office is overbearing and out of touch. The company doesn’t absorb any costs of working at the airport

    The good thingsIt's good to work with some of the good staff. This job improves your customer service and allows you to meet different people (employees/customers) which makes it interesting and somewhat enjoyable.
    The challengesThe management does not care about their own employees. They only care about the daily target sales. They lack communication and empathy.

    The challengesManagement does not care for its workers - will hire family and friends above random applicants. Many have quit in the past due to management not acting on bad behaviour and no support. Staff members (especially those in high positions) tend to involve themselves in drama relating to others they work with, and staff members will be moved from store to store depending. Hours are never guaranteed, and often will change during the shift due to delayed flights etc.

    Not recommended as a work option.
    The good thingsThere aren't many good things/experiences to mention.
    The challengesImmediate management don't listen carefully to concerns. Ideas etc aren't taken on board enough. Staff just don't feel happy to be there. Some of us have to join private groups to gain favour of store managers.
