What’s it like working at Bass Coast Shire Council?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Bass Coast Shire Council is committed to equal opportunity and transparency, with inspiring Executive and Senior Management leaders. Employees appreciate the supportive team environment, the ability to make a difference in the community, and the good work/life balance.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as limited career progression opportunities, particularly for internal candidates, and cost-cutting measures that may impact staffing and wages. Additionally, some employees feel that the local press and community members can be overly negative towards the council. There are also concerns about certain management practices, such as nepotism and not addressing inappropriate behaviour, as well as the potential to encounter difficult and rude customers.

A lot of positive hype, but no substance and no loyalty to staff.
The good thingsBass Coast Shire is committed to equal opportunity, and is transparent in its dealings with staff.
The challengesOpportunities to advance a career are very limited, and those that do come up are mostly prioritised for people currently working in other shires wanting a sea change, so there is very little scope for career progression. The shire is always looking for ways to cut staffing costs by decreasing wages through the EBA process or by downgrading roles or by cutting work while increasing the casual pool.

The good thingsThe team member and staff is very helpful and they help you in everyday work
The challengesThe management is really bad can be called currupt. Will only hire there family and friends , will make no effort in retaining existing staff and will give no appriciation for hard work
