Our role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which will support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.     Highly stressful role with little support from management
    The good thingsMade some friends and gained experience for roles outside the agency
    The challengesPlanning is a highly stressful role and in my experience management support was often inadequate. Staff were expected to manage difficult and sometimes unsafe situations without consistent backing, while access to support or flexibility varied depending on the manager. Management need better training and accountability in supporting frontline planners. I found the culture in my area unsupportive and damaging, and I left feeling deeply undervalued.
