High Workload, Poor Culture, and Minimal Support

High Workload, Poor Culture, and Minimal Support
The good thingsSome colleagues were friendly and supportive, and there were moments where teamwork made the day feel manageable. A few staff genuinely tried to help where they could.
The challengesThe culture became increasingly difficult: cliquey, inconsistent & not aligned with the values promoted publicly. Management were often unapproachable & dismissive of concerns, which made it hard to feel supported/heard. Workload expectations were unrealistic, with constant pressure to meet KPIs that didn’t reflect the volume or complexity of the tasks. There was no real work–life balance, & the pace made it hard to maintain well-being. Training was minimal & largely ineffective, relying heavily on shadowing staff who were already overwhelmed. New employees were often left to figure things out on their own, leading to confusion and unnecessary stress. Career progression was extremely limited, & most roles offered no pathway beyond staying in the same position indefinitely, regardless of performance or effort. Overall, the combination of poor culture, limited support, heavy workload, inadequate training & no career growth made the environment stressful & unsustainable.

Good place to work and gain experience
The good thingsThe team environment, perks like fresh fruit & RDO's, office location being close to public transport as well as easy to drive too and park near, being able to work from home 2 days a week.
The challengesSalary could be higher, but it is an entry level position.

Tax Depreciation Call Centre Role With a Burnout Culture
    Mar 2026
Broadmeadow NSW 2292Less than 1 year in the role, current employee
Still in the role, and it’s nothing like advertised: no balance, high pressure & mentally burnt out.
The good thingsMy experience was nothing like what was advertised. The job ads promise balance, support, and development, but the reality is the opposite. Work–life balance was basically non‑existent. Hybrid work was only offered if you met every KPI with zero mistakes, which is unrealistic in a high‑pressure call centre handling enquiries from all over Australia. RDOs are required to work longer hours, and parking is a constant issue, with most nearby streets limited to two hours.
The challengesThe workload was overwhelming, and there were times I felt pressured to present information to clients in ways that didn’t reflect the full situation. There are no perks, no recognition, and no opportunities for progression; you can expect to stay in the same role indefinitely. The culture also changed quickly; people were friendly at first, but that didn’t last, and the environment didn’t align with the values the organisation claims to uphold.
