Since the foundation of the College in 1989, we have regarded the well-being of the individual as vital to the health of the whole community. We believe that young people primarily need a sense of belonging, a sense of being cared for, respected and encouraged, and to know that there are clear moral and behavioural parameters, defined by Christian values, within which to live and learn in community. Our efforts are dedicated to nurturing such a climate. Since its journey began, Cannon Hill Anglican College has had the privilege of being led by five visionary Principals: Mr Rod Wells, the College Founder, Ms Suzanne Bain, Mr Greg Wain, Mrs Robyn Bell, and current Principal Mr Gary O'Brien, who commenced the role in January 2019.Cannon Hill Anglican College now caters for over 1200 students from Prep to Year 12. Those values on which the College was founded - vision, innovation, courage, determination and a strong sense of community and compassion - remain central to College life today, and will continue to inspire its further progress.Set in a beautiful natural environment, this is a friendly school, where teachers challenge, support and care for learners, and value their unique personalities and learning styles. The students' successes continue to be a source of great pride and satisfaction for our staff, thanks to a balanced and holistic educational environment, and a diverse, innovative and progressive curriculum. We believe that our policy of contained student numbers contributes significantly towards building a culture of collaboration and connectedness. Through our parent surveys, our parents express strong support and loyalty and indicate that their expectations of the College are being strongly met. We value such feedback as an endorsement of our focus on producing the best possible educational environment, as identified in the Hallmarks of a CHAC Education. Here at Cannon Hill Anglican College, our students have extensive opportunities to discover, develop and enrich their capacities, and to delight in their achievements. With Courage and Compassion, we welcome you to CHAC.

What’s it like working at Cannon Hill Anglican College?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees consistently praise the supportive and caring culture at Cannon Hill Anglican College, with staff feeling valued and nurtured in a collaborative environment. The strong leadership team provides clear direction, genuine empathy, and long-term planning, whilst opportunities for growth and professional development are readily available. Staff appreciate the reasonable work/life balance expectations and note that students are well-behaved and the parent body is broadly supportive and engaged.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. The College is currently undergoing construction and development, which has temporarily affected parking and access to some areas until completion in July 2025. The high expectations from students and parents mean that teachers need to be prepared to go above and beyond. Some employees have noted that management doesn't always embrace new ideas, and there can be some inconsistency in approach. Additionally, workload distribution can be uneven at times, with some staff carrying more responsibility than others.

Poor support, inconsistent management, left me undervalued and treated unfairly.
The good thingsGenerally speaking most of the staff were a pleasure to work with.
The challenges My experience with Cannon Hill Anglican College as an employee was disappointing and, at times, frustrating. I did not feel staff were adequately supported when workplace issues arose, particularly those involving other employees. Situations that required clear guidance, mediation, or protection often appeared to receive little meaningful intervention, leaving concerns unresolved. Management practices felt inconsistent, with unclear communication and decisions that did not always prioritise fairness or staff wellbeing. This made it difficult to feel secure or valued in the workplace. I also formed the view that some hiring decisions did not always prioritise experience or role readiness, which at times placed additional strain on other staff and affected team effectiveness. Personally, I believe I was treated unfairly on more than one occasion, which has left a lasting negative impression. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone reconsidering seeking employment here.
