Good stepping stone if you're early career, but not a place to stick around
The good thingsNot the worst place to work for early career clinicians to gain experience. Diverse caseload and good supervision opportunities, salary packaging is good
The challengesPay is extremely low, some senior managers are condescending, hypocritical and power hungry, turnover is high, heard about mistreatment from various coworkers

Very supportive work environment with managers who care about staff
The good thingsVery supportive team, challenging but rewarding work. Management are very flexible and supportive of staff needs. In my early career I have found it helpful to be surrounded by very experienced clinicians who work with empathy and professionalism, and are always willing to support one another. There is also a very strong focus on supervision, professional development, and investment is staff wellbeing.
The challengesThe work is a niche intersection between forensic and AOD which I personally enjoy, but others may find challenging.

    Incredibly difficult and unsupportive
The good thingsThe role itself is dynamic; no two days are the same.
The challengesThere was absolutely no support provided and it was a very toxic environment to try to work in.

Diverse opportunities in a dynamic organisation that is passionate about making social change!
The good thingsI commence with the organization whilst study and have remained with Caraniche due to the unique and challenging nature of the work! I have been afforded the opportunity to step into multiple roles, explore different departments, and attend great inhouse training. No matter where I have moved within the organization I have always found my management to be supportive and focused on my professional and personal growth. I have also been lucky to work alongside some great teams that are supportive and passionate. I feel privelaged to be able to work with some of the most marginalized people in our community to make real change!
The challengesThe forensic and drug and alchol space can be a steep learning curve to initally adjust to however I have always felt supported by my teams and the experienced leadership around me.

Passionate and supportive organisation who prioritise client care and staff well being
The good thingsA supportive and passionate organisation who prioritise client care and staff well being. Challenging but extremely rewarding work that has provided me with an opportunity to continue to develop my skills. Excellent leave entitlements and other employee benefits. Great quality clinical supervision and a highly skilled, capable and supportive management team.
The challengesComplex client presentations. However, this also has provided me with an opportunity to further develop my skills and I have been very well supported by my peers, managers and clinical supervisors. Excellent place to work if you want to continue to grow, develop and step outside of your comfort zone.

A positive work environment that has supported my professional development and growth.
The good thingsFlexible, supportive and accommodating work environment with opportunity for career progression. Caraniche are invested in your professional development and career and provide regular internal training, excellent clinical supervision and conference leave. No two days are ever the same and there is plenty of diversity in the role. There are excellent employee benefits including well-being days, reimbursement of professional membership and salary packaging.
The challengesWhilst it is incredibly rewarding, the work is fast paced and there are monthly targets. In my opinion these are achievable and reasonable however it isn't for everyone.

Challenging and rewarding work with excellent career progression and a smart, capable team. I have developed my career and made some wonderful friends at Caraniche.
The good thingsOpportunities for variety in work roles and career progression. I have grown my career at Caraniche from straight out of Uni to becoming a well-rounded clinician then into leadership roles. I have been mentored and supported by excellent supervisors/managers throughout my career and enjoy the employee benefits such as work/life balance, salary packaging and well-being days (additional paid leave).
The challengesCaraniche is a fast paced and high performing organisation, which has high expectations of employees. Those who do not function well in a dynamic and fast paced environment would struggle to meet expectations. On the flip side, Caraniche invests a lot of time and resource into developing staff from their early career into high performing clinicians and leaders.

Grateful to be working for this extremely supportive inclusive company
The good thingsCompany has been extremely supportive especially during the challenging times during Covid. They look after their staff mental well being and check in regularly in the form of surveys to see what changes staff would like to see. They have a flexible work arrangement in the current climate and support working from home in a hybrid setting
The challengesI have found no challenges working for this company so far after having worked for them for over 3.5 years

The good thingsInteresting work. Flexible start/finish times.
The challengesUnsupportive management. The company is focused on making money and don’t treat their staff well, which is proven by the high turnover of staff. People in senior positions have no managerial skills.

I would not recommend working for Caraniche if you work in the forensic field. There are many other employers who treat their staff far better and offer more supportive work environments.
The good thingsThe clients are responsive and there’s opportunities for individual intervention.
The challengesThe toxic work culture, incredibly low pay, and poor management

    Unsupportive Employer
The good thingsSome of the staff are really good people.
The challengesWorst company I have ever worked for. Management offer no support to their staff and senior management do not know the meaning of confidentiality. They do not offer support to their staff on the front line and fail to provide a safe working environment.

The challengesManagement is toxic, confidentiality does not exist between colleagues or with clients. Company are focused on making money. Staff come last.
