City Venue Management’s focus is on quality rather than quantity. This philosophy sees us only tender for facilities that require specialist hands-on support, working for progressive asset owners looking for a long-term partnership rather than simply a contract. With the experience and expertise we have acquired from managing over 30 aquatic, fitness and leisure facilities throughout Queensland and New South Wales, we have gained a nuanced understanding of the needs of our key stakeholders, being; the asset (facility), the asset owner (councils), patrons, sporting clubs and members of the wider community.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

About as bad a workplace experience as one could have. Avoid Avoid Avoid.

A Toxic Environment Disguised as “Team Culture”Pros: Building genuine relationships with customers was the highlight — many were loyal, kind, and made the job rewarding despite the internal chaos. A few supportive colleagues helped make the hard days more manageable. You’ll quickly learn the importance of protecting your mental health. Cons: Toxic Management: Leadership was inconsistent, dismissive, and more focused on control than collaboration. Feedback was rarely constructive and often condescending. Favouritism: Promotions and praise were based on personal relationships, not performance. No Real Training: Staff were expected to pick things up with little to no support, and then blamed when things went wrong. Micromanagement: Trust was non-existent. Every decision was second-guessed, making it hard to do your job confidently. Unreasonable Expectations: Taking time off — even when genuinely needed — was treated like a personal failure. Work-life balance simply didn’t exist. Fear-Based Culture: Open communication wasn’t welcome. Staff who voiced concerns were labelled “negative” or pushed out. Policy Used as a Weapon: Policies were only ever enforced when it suited management. There was no consistency, transparency, or clear communication — just constant moving of the goalposts to protect themselves and disempower staff. Advice to Management: You can’t build a strong team by breaking people down. Start listening to your employees, provide genuine support, and apply policies fairly and transparently. Basic respect goes a long way — when I resigned, I sent my resignation letter to four different members of management and didn’t receive a single acknowledgement. The only way I knew it had been received was that I disappeared from the roster. That silence sums up the culture:cold, unprofessional, and indifferent. If you want staff to stay, start treating them like people, not numbers.
