The Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) is the member based representative body of civil engineering contractors in Australia, providing assistance and expertise in contractor development and industry issues. Nationally we represent approximately 2000 small, medium and large sized contractors who in turn employ more than 40,000 people. Members are involved in a variety of projects and activities including the development and maintenance of civil infrastructure such as roads, bridges, dams, wharves, commercial and housing land development. The CCF is governed by a national board who set the strategic direction of the Federation and act as the policy making group for the organisation. Day-to-day administration of the National Office is overseen by the Chief Executive Officer (National). A network of branch offices is located in every state and territory. Each branch has an elected branch board made up of contractor members who provide governance and strategic direction and a CEO who is responsible for the operations and service delivery of the branch. The ongoing aim is to improve the civil construction industry, as well provide a unified voice for civil contractors to all three levels of government.

Employees at Civil Contractors Federation appreciate the supportive management, passionate colleagues, flexible work environment, and interesting work. They value the friendly team and sense of teamwork, as well as the involvement and helpfulness of industry members.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as a high workload due to a small team, a lack of pre-existing structure and clear expectations in certain roles, concerns about leadership and management in some branches with high staff turnover and reports of negative culture, a lack of accountability for actions taken by those in key positions, and organisational changes like the departure of valued managers.

Easy-going, dynamic and varied workplace that has given me room to be creative and learn a lot as someone new to the industry
The good thingsHours are very flexible and management extremely understanding for time off, health appointments etc. Company organises events that are great fun to attend and you meet lots of interesting and down to earth people. The office is always a happy and easygoing place to be, and there's a real sense of teamwork where everyone is willing to help get things done. I find the work really interesting having joined CCF with no prior knowledge of civil construction.
The challengesUnder the new CEO's management it is quite a small team so there is always lots to be done. There isn't much pre-existing structure to follow, but expectations are reasonable.
