    Draftsperson

"Well-paid role with efficient systems, but poor staff retention and declining morale."
The good thingsCoral Homes offered competitive weekly pay plus super, which was a standout compared to other companies in the industry. The location was convenient, and using Revit made the drafting process faster and more efficient. Overall, the work was structured and provided solid exposure to residential drafting workflows.
The challengesParking was a consistent frustration — with only around 80 spots for over 100 staff, many had to move their cars every two hours due to limited street options. Lunch breaks were restricted to just 30 minutes. Toward the end of my time, there was a noticeable rise in staff turnover and a lack of transparency from management. There appeared to be little to no commitment to retaining existing or past staff — after I left, half (if not all) of my team also resigned, which reflected a deeper morale and leadership issue.

I am proud to work for Queensland's number 1 builder, the team across all departments are dedicated, passionate and committed to giving 110% effort always.
The good thingsI enjoy the team environment and face paced results. I report to the General Manager of Operations, my ideas and/or concerns are always heard and I never feel un supported. For such a large corporation the Executive Management team are easy to communicate with and always so friendly.
The challengesEvery business has challenges. It is how you move with them that matters, Coral are committed to their staff and are always working on continual improvement.

If you are self-motivated and driven you will succeed. Hard work is rewarded.
The good thingsYou have an opportunity to control your financial freedom for the future - but you have to work hard for it. There is a direct link between input and output. Colleagues are surprisingly decent considering the nature of a sales role. There is a pretty good team environment and if you are willing to listen, people are willing to help.
The challengesWork life balance is difficult. You will work longer hours than most and complete a significant amount of paperwork and follow ups for clients on top of your expectations in the displays, but you will be paid accordingly if you perform.

Glad I took the job when I wasn't looking for a new job!
The good thingsExcellent opportunity to earn an amazing income. Requires hard work to achieve this but worth the effort if you want to make a significant financial difference to your life. There are significant training options available but the best training is to work with someone that already has experience within the company and learn from them. The CEO and senior management are very approachable and have a wealth of experience within the industry.
The challengesLike with every building company, they don't cater for everything so you just need to accept this rather than think that you can change things. Lots of paperwork compared to some builders but you are getting paid.
