Toxic Work Culture Marked by Politics, Poor Leadership, and Lack of Professionalism.
The good thingsThe compensation for the role
The challengesDuring my time at Energy Queensland, I encountered significant challenges that impacted my overall experience. The work environment was often dominated by internal politics and favouritism which made collaboration and progress difficult. A number of team members lacked the necessary experience or qualifications for their roles, which contributed to inefficiencies and inconsistent output. The management style leaned heavily toward micromanagement, leaving little room for autonomy or trust. There was also a culture of subtle undermining—snide comments, passive-aggressive behaviour, and intimidation tactics—which created a hostile and unprofessional atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable lack of strong leadership, accountability, and work ethic throughout various departments. This made it hard to feel motivated or supported in doing meaningful work. I hope that with the right leadership the organization can evolve into a healthier, more constructive place to work.

Worst job I ever had. I would never work there again. If no were no jobs and they were the only ones hiring, I’d move cities.
The good thingsThey were hiring in Covid.
The challengesCulture was bad, tech culture in particular. Huge churn. Terrible attitude to work from home. One example would be after the results of a staff survey, on seeing staff complain about peers not treating them well, said they would give resilience training to those complaining.

If you are happy to do 8 hours and not engage, this is the place for you, if you want to think and be mentally challenged, stay away.
The good thingsFlexibility in work times. Salaries are good for the level of skill required.
The challengesPolitics, empire building, archaic thinking, lack of foresight and insight
