Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses has always been and still is a family owned and operated business. We have a long & proud history dating back to the 1800's. Both the Ferguson & Plarre Families have early European roots and we established ourselves in Australia over 110 years ago.The Ferguson Plarre history commenced in 1901 in the Northern and Western suburbs and both families established themselves as household names in Melbourne. Both families continued trading through both World Wars and the Great Depression despite the tough conditions. After years of refining their 'craft' and significant contributions to the pastrycooking trade both families merged their businesses to become 'Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses' in 1980.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

    Worst management ever
The good thingsFellow staff are good
The challengesAt my time at Ferguson Plarre I enjoyed the work but managers made this job a living hell. The upper management at Ferguson Plarre are some of the rudest people I’ve ever met and should never have been given their positions. They have no idea what it’s like to actually work in a store which makes working at a store a worse experience. They have no respect for any staff, they talk rudely about their employees behind their back and make passive aggressive comments. They do not take well to any issues bought up by their staff and will not make you feel unwelcome at work. Store managers are no better. So many of my fellow staff were bought to tears by the store manager. Overall as much as I loved the team I got to work with the experience was soured by poor management.

    Toxic work environment.
The good thingsOther junior staff members were super lovely and looked out for each other. Location is excellent, and you get free coffee and occasionally can take home food at the end of shifts.
The challengesManagement was terrible, did not care for their staff and was a toxic work environment. Not a good place for young employees to get their first job.
