A stepping stone but not for long
The good thingsEveryone is generally friendly and helpful Opportunity to be involved in many different projects
The challengesFavouritism and some not doing their fair share of the work Some staff overworked, people not acknowledging responsibility for their mistakes Not much opportunity to grow or move internally

    A great idea
The good thingsThe staff are lovely, most people are helpful and supportive of each other and there is a great focus on responsible lending and the banks role in a responsible and sustainable investor in society as a whole and in the environment.
The challengesIt is a small organisation and there can be a fair bit of juggling to meet efficiency and workload constraints as there are a fair few elements that are still manual which you would not find in a larger organisation.

Great place to grow with a fun team. It's like a start up without the posted notes.
The good thingsSmall company meaning you can stand out and get diverse experience. There are no 'sacred cows'. If you don't like something or see an opportunity it's not difficult to make changes. In fact, it's encouraged. A lot of projects (especially in the tech space) very advanced for size.
The challengesSize means you need to be able to be flexible and adapt to changing needs of the business.

Great culture with the willingness to see the potential where others won't
The good thingsWorking at Gateway Bank doesn't feel like your \"typical bank\". The staff are very friendly and accommodating and you have the ability to learn a lot from other teams or departments. The culture reflects this and you feel like you are wanted, accepted and acknowledged when you come to work. Gateway encourages feedback and they are constantly looking for new ideas to improve or enhance the company going forward. Management is easy to communicate with and understand your daily tasks or frustrations as many of them have been with the company for a long time and have worked their way up over the years.
The challengesDue to the size of the brand, there can be limitations to career growth or other opportunities but because the company is a smaller organisation there is always an opportunity for those who prove themselves. Changes can take longer than expected but some limitations are understandable. Staff turnover in some areas is common which is expected in a smaller organisation but this can also be seen as an opportunity.

One of the best workplaces with great bunch of people.
The good thingsThe people are the great asset of the company. Friendly and welcoming environment. Great Team who seeks out to help one another.
The challengesNot many people know about the company. Lacks visibility and brand recognition even though the company is providing better service and financial products than other big players in the financial market.

    High high high recommendation
The good thingsTruely one of the best companies to work for. From the birthday cakes to the daily good humour of my colleagues in the Finance Team and accross the buisness, an opportunity to work at Gateway offers both professional development and the flexibility to enjoy a life out side of work. Management are keenly interested in your personal success almost it might seem as their first priority, all the while with clear strategic focus to building and growing the business. I couldn't recommend highly enough to embrace any opportunity Gateway has on offer. As a guiding reference I worked at Gateway for 4 years.
    The challengesAbsolutely none whatsoever.

Great place to work with people making a genuine difference!
The good thingsComing from a major bank I was unsure what to expect from a credit union. As it is a small business I have the opportunity to diversify and learn more about different roles within the organisation. This has empowered me to push myself to achieve more. Friendly staff and great support has made this job rewarding and I don't feel as if I am just another number! The people I work with take pride in their work and go the extra mile for customers. Only good things to say about my experience at Gateway so far!
The challengesThere has been an adjustment coming from a bigger organisation with system and procedures but once getting use to everything it is fine.

I have been able to learn and grow in my time at Gateway
The good thingsThis is an excellent company with a great culture of fairness and equality. Everyone has a say and the management team are easily accessible unlike many large organisations
The challengesNone. The financial services industry is full of challenges and Gateway in my mind is up there \"strategising\" as well as the others

Gateway is truly a great place to work
The good thingsAs a working Mum Gateway has been AMAZING in accommodating my desire to achieve the best of both worlds. During my time at Gateway I have worked hard but this has always been recognised by my Manager and I have been rewarded with lots of opportunities to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities. I love coming to work each day because Gateway is a really nice place to work. In particular the people I get to work with are smart, friendly and helpful.
The challengesAs a small place you have to be willing to roll up your sleeves and go beyond standard role boundaries. However this has it's benefits because you get to see the inner workings of a financial institution that you may not have the opportunity to see in bigger places.

Great opportunity for those that are looking for career development in a supportive environment
The good thingsGateway Credit Union is a great place to work as it offers its employees a supportive and balanced working environment where hard-work is rewarded. There is ample opportunity for career development and management encourage further staff training which is great for those looking to advance their skills.
The challengesNot so much of a challenge, but being a smaller institution you have to be sure to work closely with internal teams as changes you implement may have an impact on several departments.

    The credit union difference!
The good thingsThe culture of Gateway is what made it shine! Management was always supportive of learning and development, the work diverse and interesting, and the people one of a kind. Gateway always strove to make employees happy with measurement and reporting of the culture and career opportunities within, improving year on year which was clear in the attitudes of employees.
The challengesThe hardest part is leaving friends and colleagues made along the way!

I had a great time working here and would highly recommend Gateway as an employer.
The good thingsGreat working environment with a diverse and close knit culture, supportive management, genuine opportunities for growth and development, good work life balance and excellent location.
The challengesWorking across a broad range of areas in a small team can be challenging at times, but I found this mostly rewarding and a valuable opportunity to broaden my experience and skills.

i can honestly say that I was very happy working in Gateway Credit Union and miss not being there anymore .
The good thingsGood bunch of people to work with. Good rapport between staff and management. I found it a happy and safe environment to work in and thoroughly enjoyed my time at Gateway Credit Uniom.
The challengesLot of procedural and major systems changes happen frequently and we hsve to be able to keep up with it. But it was exciting too like when they decided to do away with paper based files and incorporated everything into the syztem. For an old school type of person like me that was a real challenge and was very happy with all the excellent training and help provided to everyone. I not only enjoyed yhe new system but actually mastered it and was able to send out car amd personal loan documents in half the time I took when it was paper based.
