What’s it like working at Good Company Disability Services?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees consistently praise the supportive management and coordinators at Good Company Disability Services, noting they are always available to provide guidance and assistance. The work with NDIS participants is described as incredibly rewarding and fulfilling, giving many staff a strong sense of purpose. Communication standards are excellent throughout the organisation, and the company offers flexible work arrangements that accommodate personal needs whilst maintaining good work-life balance. The collaborative team environment ensures staff feel valued and respected, and employees appreciate the opportunity to build ongoing relationships with clients who share similar interests. Additionally, pay and benefits are competitive with award rates.

However, there are some considerations to be aware of. It can take time to build up sufficient hours for a stable income when starting out, and new support workers may find the role initially overwhelming as they learn to adapt to different situations, though management provides strong support during this learning period. The nature of support work requires considerable energy and can be mentally demanding, with some sessions more challenging than others. One-on-one client work can feel isolating at times, and working with clients who have varying disabilities and needs requires adaptability and problem-solving skills, which becomes easier with experience.

A rewarding role with a supportive team and valuable learning opportunities
The good thingsI really enjoyed working with the team and found the environment to be supportive and collaborative. The role allowed me to build strong relationships with participants and gain valuable hands-on experience. I appreciated the opportunity to develop my skills and contribute in a meaningful way, and felt encouraged and supported throughout my time with Good Company
The challengesAt times the role can be emotionally demanding, as is common in this type of work. However, Good Company provides a healthy work life balance and provides support to help staff manage this effectively.

An eye-opening job into the community services industry.
The good thingsThe flexible work balance, and the clients.
The challengesI was treated very poorly by management and the seniors at the company. I was left in the dark on multiple occasions and never heard back about things I had asked about.

A great job full of wholesome experiences supporting those who need it.
The good thingsI feel very supported as a mentor with Good Company Disability Service. I have access to assistance when needed, and I feel comfortable asking for help at any time, as all of the senior staff members are very understanding and easygoing. I have loved working with every single participant so far, and I enjoy the structure of seeing the same participants each week on an ongoing basis. Every person I have worked with so far has been lovely, and I always leave the session feeling great. Good Company Disability Services has also filled my weekly schedule well. I have been able to work with more participants than I thought I would at this point (just over two months into the job).
The challengesSome sessions are harder than others due to the mental load. However, I have enjoyed working with these participants, as each tricky session has helped me with the next.
