A Fantastic opportunity for young adults to gain life experience and make some friends along the way.
The good things◙An opportunity for young individuals to gain some valuable life skills in the Land management and conservation area. ◙Often working on little projects day to day, you can meet a lot of local landowners around the area and visit some hidden gem locations around the hills. ◙You get trained in first aid, basic chemical handling, and chainsawing under supervision and you get to learn about risk assessments as you perform them daily. ◙Chance to have additional responsibilities and experience, through being a first aid or equipment officer, and even a designated emergency driver.
The challenges◙It's only a 6-month contract, but luckily I had the opportunity to renew it once.

So far my best working experience.
The good thingsFantastic team working environment, friendly, great if you love working outdoors and getting fitter as walking up and down bush or coastal land etc will do that to you. Very supportive supervisors and managers who will also help you to create, edit and enhance your resumes and cover letters if you are new to, or struggle with job-search. I listed the pay as low as you do get paid under a minimum wage due to the fact it is a government volunteer and work experience program, but I think it is a bonus to be paid for the role in general.
The challengesWorking in the heat, water breaks and being careful not to over exert yourself on very hot days are essential. Keeping an eye out for dangerous wildlife such as venomous snakes and poisonous spiders. Once the project ends you will have a reference and work experience for sure, but as for being able to move up within any particular company or that industry it is a little more difficult, needing things such as a licence and car for most bush regen jobs and the Green Army itself has finite projects that come to an end.

Excellent job opportunity, I believe this role helped me over come my depression I was battling for years.
The good thingsGreat supervisor (Ben Croft) Wonderful work environment and friendly people to work with.
The challengesIt would be disappointing to see the Green Army Project come to an end. I fear this would have a detrimental effect on the environment if the project comes to an end.

A great opportunity to learn a skill-set and meet life-time friends.
The good thingsThe Green Army is a great opportunity for young, inexperienced youth to learn about the environment and what it takes to maintain it. It's a great start for someone who aspires to work in conservation, ecology, agriculture or even horticulture.
The challengesThe only challenge I have faced in my time with the Green Army was the inability to attain a full certificate. If I were to complete the rest of the units, it would be at my own expense in my own time.

Many great opportunities for young people in the one organisation.
The good thingsWorking in a closely-knit team, it was a great way to make good friends. Received great experience and had an overall fun time working in different sites!
The challengesThe only thing I found a little challenging was doing heavy work when I wasn't very strong. Fortunately, I was able to ease into the heavy work and build up some muscle and endurance!
