Very disappointing - does not deliver on their promises
The good thingsThe line management were very knowledgeable and experienced - until they all left
The challengesThe company brought me in to work on a very large project with industry, and the strategy changed almost overnight, everybody left and now there is no leadership or direction. There seems to be so much Government interference - they cant get anything done.

You might die at your desk and nobody will notice.
The good thingsThe office is in a good location
The challengesComplete overhaul required - only about one third of the business produces anything, and the support functions need to be reduced in size. The business is just gong around and around in circles - with no decision being made or supported.

A good place to come, a great way to get into engineering, asset management or the power business.
The good thingsEngaged leadership Excellent on-boarding process, very thorough and accurate Excellent people have been hired so they hire on quality and promote on same. A culture that is actually people focused internally and to the customer
The challengesWorking through the systems is largely left to individuals which makes it unnecessarily challenging. There is a bit of decision by committee although being a smaller company this is limited and can usually be cut through.

Mixed - organisation was good to ok but has gone downhill over last 12 months - would avoid.
The good thingsThe people are nice and friendly.
The challengesMost of the talent has left in the last year. No projects or investments are supported by the Government. The organisation was really very commercial and delivering projects but has come to a complete stop. The old and new CEO have lost interest - and this results in simple decisions taking forever.

Mid place to work in, great flexibility. Typical GTE
The good thingsFlexibility, WFH arrangements, my boss is nice, enough parking, slow paced
The challengesPeople are very protective of their work to make them look important. Would take long business cases just to approve minor things. No one wants to make a decision and be accountable! Everythings so slow and the processes are outdated. Would bore you if you like action.

Horizon power: exceptional benefits, flexible work arrangements, career opportunities.
The good thingsHorizon Power offers great benefits like additional leave, health & life insurance, gym discounts, and more. They provide flexible working arrangements, which are perfect for maintaining work-life balance. There are various career development pathways, including opportunities to work in regional WA.
The challengesSometime there is a disconnection between Perth and regional offices.

My manager couldn't do ANY of the jobs I was tasked with. I was there for seven weeks before somebody realised that I couldn't see or access a critical folder that my boss owned and hadn't shared.
The good thingsThere are some lovely people at HP.
The challengesPeople are promoted to management or senior status without good skills. It's not a meritocracy; it seems to be based on whoever has been there forever getting promoted, and then they stay in that role for 20, 30, or 40 years, which leaves no room for more competent people to move up the ladder. They think having a weekly one-on-one is the only key to good management. My boss's manager (a director) would ask team members for information to be collated and sent to him, and then my direct boss would tell me off for talking to his manager. In my team, seven people were in Bentley; within eight months, four left within three months of starting with HP.

Plenty of opportunities to grow, make a difference and have a bit of fun.
The good thingsA friendly, relaxed atmosphere, where you feel welcome and supported to contribute value. Great flexibility, benefits and general work environment, with opportunities to grow your career and contribute meaningfully to the creation of a great organisation that serves the community.
The challengesThere could be more collaboration across divisions, though there are opportunities to get to know your colleagues in a more sociable context. With a decent amount of strategic priorities, identifying focus areas and driving results with available resources can be challenging.

Horizon Power is an organisation that prioritises culture and employee engagement and I love that we do far more than just keeping the lights on - we support the communities we serve.
The good thingsCulture, the people, extended benefits, corporate volunteering
The challengesWe are a blend of innovation and old-school. If you like to make a difference, you can.

Horizon Power has a really good range of benefits and there are opportunities to move and grow, provided you put in the effort. Really nice people to work with and being able to get out to the regions is a bonus.
The good thingsThe culture is great and I feel like everyone is really helpful and want to see you succeed. Everyone, from Exec down are really authentic and have customers in mind with every decision. Great supporters of regional WA and local communities.
The challengesBeing Perth based when the customers are in the regions can give an element of disconnect to the pressures that are faced. There's a lot of work to be done but that's also exciting.

exciting as long as you love what you do and don’t take things too personal.
The good thingsVery good work culture and work life balance. You get the stability of working for government yet in a private enterprise kind of culture.
The challengesSome people in key positions just whiling up time to retirement. Can hamper progress by not making decisions or stalling initiatives. Lot of dead wood.
