A difficult place for individuals who value professionalism and integrity
The good thingsI met some good staff members but signs of exhaustion is all over them
The challengesHaving worked at the business school for years now, the work environment is highly toxic; one needs thick skin to avoid burnout and maintain integrity. Employee surveys consistently point to major issues with psychological safety, unclear direction, & manipulative leadership. These issues have persisted over time with no signs of improvement. There are serious issues with workload allocations. Some academics are overworked and others are underworked. Access to resources is not always available to everyone as it should be. Key decisions exhibit cronyism & nepotism. Recent promotions facilitated access to some crony academics at the expense of others. One associate professor was promoted with one pub, while other senior lecturers with multiple pubs were denied the opportunity. Lecturers with multiple pubs and years of service were denied as well. 2 positions were created and allocated to facilitate the promotion of 2 staff members, without maintaining the integrity of appointments.
