    Loved every day
The good thingsThe people are amazing! They made coming to work an absolute breeze
The challengesThe hospitality industry itself can see lots of turnover due to the casual nature of the role so keeping great people was always a challenge

pretty good for a hospitality job
The good thingsLovely team; very caring, supportive and understanding. pretty relaxed environment too - although it can be physically strenuous work.
The challengesalthough they are pretty much the only challenge, higher management is pretty horrible as an employee. they aren’t purposefully being nasty but there is very poor communication from store to central management and not enough focus on effective operations at a store level - every feature seems like they made it up as they go along so it’s quite inefficient. on the job barista training is as slow as they can possibly make it, probably to try and keep a lower employee turnover while you wait for them to train you (can take up to 2 years).

Would recommend for anyone wanting positive workplace
The good thingsSuch a great work environment. I had 2 different managers and under both I felt extremely supported. The team I worked with was great and I loved coming into work (even if it was a 6am start!). The processes were fantastic; always knew what your role was and how things worked; a VERY well oiled machine.
The challengesCan be hard if you want a lot of hours..suited towards uni students.

I enjoyed working here as it was a friendly and motivational environment where everyone was passionate about their role in Merlo Coffee and was a positive atmosphere.
The good thingsThe staff and company was extremely passionate about their business such as customer service and making quality coffee for everyone each time. There was always a diverse range of food to be made and sold, as well as over 6 different coffee blends that each had a unique taste. The training for becoming a barista was nothing but the best, ensuring our skills were as good as can be. Staff meetings that were held also allowed us to expand our knowledge on coffee in a fun environment.
The challengesIt was challenging learning all the different types of coffee beans sold, but could easily be resolved by trying each different blend per shift to be able to have an understanding of the unique tastes each one had.

Fun and challenging but most of all enriching!
The good thingsGreat pay Generally great and relaxed co workers. More often than not the cafe environments are fun to work in.
The challengesSome people can be overlooked for opportunities to progress. Only take on employees on casual basis unless you're looking to progress
