What’s it like working at Mutual Marketplace?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Mutual Marketplace consistently praise the quality of their colleagues, describing them as professional, motivated, hard-working, and friendly people who work collaboratively towards common goals. The business model is viewed positively for its support of credit unions through aggregated procurement, and senior leadership is commended for keeping staff well-informed. Additional benefits such as five extra annual leave days and travel opportunities are also appreciated.

However, there are some areas for development, including a tendency towards micromanagement and process-heavy approaches from senior management. Some employees feel the company may be offering too many services beyond its core procurement focus. As a smaller, growing business, staff need to be adept at prioritising competing demands, and there is ongoing work needed to address gaps in documentation and procedures.

The challengesDealing with challenges stakeholders from our Shareholders, whilst they est. the business to assist with supplier risk management, procurement and contract negotiations, the corner cutting we would often see with certain stakeholders was concerning.

In the past 8 months, Mutual Marketplace has witnessed significant organisational changes as key senior staff and employees, account for nearly half of the workforce, have departed. The company's leadership, originating from a sales-oriented background, has demonstrated limited understanding of procurement practices, leading to operational challenges. The shift in personnel has raised concerns about the company's overall stability and effectiveness in managing its marketplace operations.
The good thingsThe model presents a dynamic framework tailored to bolster the credit union sector, offering compelling avenues for growth and the acquisition of new clientele.
The challengesThe core focus of our business lies in procurement; however and existing challenge stems from leadership's limited grasp of its intricacies, resulting in a trend towards micromanagement
