What’s it like working at Nick Scali Furniture?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees consistently praise the supportive and friendly team environment at Nick Scali Furniture, with colleagues who genuinely care for one another and work collaboratively. Upper management and senior leadership are described as approachable and supportive, providing guidance and listening to staff concerns. Many employees appreciate the opportunities for career growth and progression, with access to training programmes and mentorship. The commission structure and earning potential are frequently highlighted as excellent, with uncapped commissions and rewards for high achievers. Employees also value working with high-quality products and a well-established brand, noting the beautiful showroom presentations.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Work/life balance can be demanding, with weekend work required and a fast-paced environment during sale periods that requires adaptability. Annual leave flexibility can be limited, particularly during blackout periods and peak sales times. Some employees have noted that mid-management approaches can vary across locations, with differing practices and levels of consistency. The retail scheduling, including weekend work and busy periods, is typical for the industry but may require adjustment for those new to retail environments.

Stay away from this job if you are well educated young people, waste of life
The good thingsvery very few staff is responsible and fair
The challengesThey run bad business and the market is dead, almost no customers even in weekends. Their NSW regional sales manager and store manager are incapable to improve the situation but just know to blame staff even if the staff did good job. You will feel depressed working under store manager's management as he has no any idea about management and change store rules every day while also speaking very fast and unclear. They will push you to sell accidental damage warranty which is not mandatory to customer and take more than 10 weeks to process your annual leave request as they don't want you to rest. Low level working environment and staff, you can learn nothing from this job and the managers

Great Company with poor mid managment performance
The good thingsNick Scali Family , The owner and his daughter and son were always appreciative and respectful, but my time at Nick Scali was still difficult. I felt that mid-management, especially some area managers, showed strong favoritism rewarding image over actual results. In my view, this created an unfair environment and is a major reason many good employees end up leaving
The challengesI worked at Nick Scali, have progressed from sales consultant to senior position.Unfortunately my experience was far from positive.Favoritism within mid management especially among certain area managers was a major issue. It often felt like recognition was based more on who could keep a constant smile on their face rather than on actual results. This created an unfair and demotivating work environment. In my time there, I did find the owner to be a genuinely kind person who acknowledged good work. However, it seemed to me that he wasn’t fully aware of the day-to-day issues driving so many employees to leave. In my view, the core problems stem from mid-management, unrealistic or misleading promises and a clear preference for certain individuals, regardless of performance. Overall, I left feeling disappointed. I believe the company has potential, but unless the deeper issues within mid-management are addressed, many employees may continue to feel undervalued and unsupported.

Don’t expect support further than the store manager has the ability to, don’t trust head office.
The good thingsThe team I worked with were lovely & incredibly inspiring to further develop & aim for higher results.
The challengesWork like balance isn’t something that exists at this company.. if you have an urgent personal emergency in a ‘black out period’ you will be refused leave no matter the circumstances, including a deceased family members funeral.
