What’s it like working at Phillip Island Nature Park?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Phillip Island Nature Park appreciate the friendly workplace environment with kind and helpful colleagues, as well as the perks and benefits offered, such as staff vouchers and opportunities to get involved in novel activities. Many employees, particularly the rangers, enjoy working with wildlife and being outdoors.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as a slow and convoluted decision-making process with too many people involved, a lack of established processes for certain tasks, and constant changes within the organisation that can be overwhelming. Additionally, some employees feel that there are limited opportunities for career progression, and there are concerns about management not listening to staff needs and making decisions that negatively impact working conditions and animal welfare.

A great experience overall, I learnt heaps and loved the stimulus and welcoming environment. Would recommend!
The good thingsSo friendly! Everyone is truly kind and ready to help if you ask. Fun atmosphere and great perks like 4x staff vouchers per year for friends and family, opportunities to help out doing novel things around the sites, no matter your position. Great pay.
The challengesIt often takes twenty people to get involved in making a decision and goes around the world. Frustrating when trying to get things done. Even though it is a cyclical tourist attraction there is never a process to follow for something that should be simple. Constant changes can be overwhelming and unsettling.

The good thingsThe ranger team and working outdoors
The challengesBeing forced to be vaccinated to work, politics within management, and management not listening to the needs of staff

Whilst I loved my role, the lack of opportunity to further develop my skills and career left me no option but to go elsewhere.
The good thingsIf you live in the area and are passionate about wildlife and conservation then working for this organisation can be a good fit.
The challengesLeadership is not great, the salary is low and there are very few opportunities to be promoted.
