    Assistant Restaurant Manager

Probably a great place to work if you don't do the dinner service.
The good thingsThey have a great product although it seems somewhat let-down by the location. Some good people working there, it's just a very little known place.
The challengesF&B component of the venue is very quiet (restaurant averages around 8-12pax nightly), which is a shame considering the offering is actually really good. Being told to cut staff hours and finishing between 1am-2am yet coming in on a weekend and seeing 5-6 casuals for breakfast looking after 60-80 people was pretty depressing.

The good thingsWe had a great team at the start of Employment.
The challengesEveryone have 2 faces. Very unhealthy environment to be in. They don't care about your health or understand that you have other life then work.

Really enjoyed my time at The Point.
The good thingsWork life balance was fantastic and it was refreshing to work with such a great team who all seemed to care. The guests really do come first here.
The challengesBeing an independent property meant cross exposure or career progression was limited.

The good thingsThe customers were really amazing
The challengesDealing with a non diverse manager , mean things being said to you about things you can’t change and shouldn’t have to change , not enough hours. Other staff not pulling there weight with work duties .

    Was a mistake
The good thingsWorking with good people
The challengesManagement is out of touch with operational side of things. It’s their way or the highway approach on implementing change, hypocrisy on upper management.

    Work hard and play hard
The good thingsBusy hotel, but you get to learn lots. Managers are always supportive and always keen to help and teach you. Hotel rooms are recently renovated so very nice and well maintained. Free parking is offered for staffs. I have learnt so much from The Point Hotel, I am now confident to work for any hotel.
The challengesIt is busy hotel. So it can be little challenging when it's peak time. But they have very supportive team so you will never feel too stressed. I have learnt how to handle multi tasking jobs and time management.
