Easy job, bad management. Different location might be better.
The good thingsDiscounts were great, job was very easy to do.
The challengesNo hours to be shared. Was hired with a promise of 20 hours a week, only to be told there wasn't enough hours to give because they had over hired. I was given 7 shifts for the entirety of 1 month, all of which were 3-5 hours long. Averaged 15 hours a fortnight. Favouritism was very obvious, especially because the managers were besties. Very cliquey. If you weren't someone they wanted to talk to, they'd whisper around you and laugh in your face.

    Collaborative and supportive work environment
The good thingsWorking at Rip Curl has been nothing but a positive experience. I have experienced a fantastic collaborative and supportive environment from day one and I truly can't fault it. Any problems are always solved promptly, and if someone doesn't know the answer, they'll always find it for you. Upper Management live by 'the Search' and encourage their employees to do the same, offering freedoms that I haven't been given in previous roles. Overall, a very friendly and open working environment.
The challengesThe distance between stores and other leaders can sometimes make it difficult as you don't have the opportunity for extra support if needed.

    Overall mid experience.
The good thingsClean work environment, the discount, adequate opportunity (kinda) for growth via head office
The challengesRude management at flagship store , Nepo baby privilege ( if a parent works in head office they get their child a job in the franchise and are prioritised in shifts and promotional opportunity ), unable to access shifts at home and prioritise younger employees so they have to pay them less, if ur looking for consistent work this role isn’t for you

    Set in their ways.
The good thingsRetail, so no taking work home with you. Mostly good environment at store level. Great discounts.
The challengesTotal lack of positive reinforcement from Head Office, Management. Only heard threats of termination when things went wrong or mistakes were made, little to no constructive criticism. When things went well there was radio silence, an occasional "good job" tacked on to an email. New ideas seldom listened to and never implemented, things had to be done by the book regardless of if it was successful or not.
