WELCOME TO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIESTHE HOUSE THAT LOVE BUILTLike most iconic success stories, Ronald McDonald House began as a little idea that simply refused to stop growing.Imagine having to spend every night for months camped out in your child’s hospital room, eating food from vending machines and all the while trying to stay positive and happy for the sake of your seriously ill youngster. That was the case for American football hero Fred Hill, in 1974, when his three-year-old daughter Kim was diagnosed with leukaemia.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ has been wonderful to work for.
The good thingsExcellent support and coordination is given to tutors working on the ground in schools and online. The Learning Program management and support has been superb.
The challengesOnce allocated students to work with, you might be thinking you can earn $Amount per week, however anticipated weekly income is typically reduced when parents cancel more than 24 hours ahead due to illness, medical appointment or school camp, no-one available to drive student, or any other reason. In that case, the tutor receives no $ for that regular timeslot that week.

Undervalued and cultural challenges for those in ground level operational roles.
The good thingsMost rewarding role for what the charity provides. Could not have felt better at providing the required services to Families
The challengesOn going changes operationally and constant staffing issues arising from management changes recently. Lack of value to staff and support during these changes from new management. Focus on the Charities aim declined greatly.

I have volunteered for RMHC and also worked as an employee, and would definitely return in either capacity in future if a suitable opportunity arose with this incredible organisation.
The good thingsRMHC is an organisation committed to ensuring that it supports the amazing team of staff who provide for the families and carers of patients, children in need of medical care, who need accomodation and support during treatment. Ongoing training, development opportunities and practical workplace support is a cornerstone of their People and Culture.
The challengesThe nature of working with families in stressful and often emergency situations, so it requires personal fortitude, resilience, empathy, professionalism and patience at all times.
