    Great for learning and making friends but improvement is needed in some aspects.
    The good thingsGaining a basic understanding of industry, gaining knowledge and experience, meeting new people and making connections. I feel both certificates I am completing here have given me a good amount of knowledge about industry standards which is the final goal for me studying here.
    The challengesAs a hospitality student I feel the diploma of hospitality management students can often get a power trip which usually causes coworker issues and can lead to a very horrible shift (a shift we are meant to be learning on not yelled at for showing up a couple minutes late for traffic), as someone who studied events here I enjoyed that course but felt I didn’t gain enough industry knowledge or even enough knowledge for a basic event planning assistant job (we are supposed to be doing this so we can leave and get a job in that pathway) although I believe they have changed up the course for the better as of the second semester of this year.

    Avoid this job unless you enjoy drowning in paperwork instead of teaching.
    The good thingsStudents and colleagues. Facilities and IT support are great.
    The challengesBureaucracy and unrealistic expectations, particularly the ridiculous increase in paperwork, is not worth the pay and burnout. So much of the job revolves around ticking boxes that there isn’t enough time to actually teach. We are also required to constantly prove our competency to teach even though some of us have been teaching for decades and have had to provide multiple teaching qualifications in order to get the job. Top management do not care.
