No two days are the same.
The good thingsDiscounted clothing for staff, above award wages, opportunities offered… Meeting and getting to know customers and assisting them with fashion choices that suit them, for events, travel or every day wear.
The challengesBetter storage area!!! Especially where I worked.. a lot of twisting, lifting heavy boxes down from shelves and climbing ladders to access excess stock. Workplace injury in the making!

Step up for a fun challenge
The good thingsThe individual boutiques have a very nice format and the merchandising support is excellent. Having a kitchen and store area is great and there’s plenty of support including daily/weekly/monthly structure from the Area Managers and support staff in HO. Boutiques have a more personalised experience with the customers. The fashion parades and sales events are always busy and loads of fun so plenty of variation in the day to day. The clothes are great to wear and customers love seeing new on you.
The challengesAdditional support in staff management and security measures.

Truly great “Tribe” and “Tribal Leaders”
The good thingsI work with a wonderful manager who genuinely cares about her customers and team. It is such a positive and happy environment where everyone is valued. As a prior customer, I love wearing and styling the clothes. And to have such great feedback from our customers is so rewarding. As a company, I feel cared for and appreciated. It’s wonderful to be able to promote the Taking Shape values and to be part of “The Tribe”.
The challengesNo real challenges. I believe we all do our very best.

A supportive, inspiring, and people-focused company where I feel proud and happy to grow my career.
The good thingsThe good thingsThe culture here is truly amazing and welcoming. From management to team members, everyone is supportive, kind, and respectful. I have built strong and meaningful relationships with our customers, which makes the job so rewarding. The company genuinely cares about its people and offers great opportunities for career progression, training, and personal growth. I feel valued, appreciated, and motivated every day I come to work.
The challengesLike any workplace, there can be busy and challenging moments, but the difference here is the support you receive. Management and HR are always approachable, understanding, and ready to help. They listen to feedback and work with the team to find positive solutions, which makes any change feel manageable.

I love helping our Taking Shape customers look good and feel good about themselves.
The good thingsI love the focus on customer service and the use of the Fish Principle based on the Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle USA. I had read about this principle some years earlier and was delighted to see it being successfully used in a workplace. The staff and manager in my workplace work as a team and are supportive of each other.
The challengesThe bar keeps being raised. Despite working diligently and being extremely customer focused and receiving lots of positive verbal compliments from customers, these rarely translate to rewards or accolades from the company.

The good thingsGreat training program Hours that suit me Customers are lovely to deal with. I love making women look and feel good. Staff help each other and are approachable.
The challengesSofter flooring for staff as the hard floor causes foot problems. Replacing rugs and decor is not prioritised.

The good thingsHaving had my own business for 40 year , retired and then returned back to work ...I thought it may have been challenging but I was so wrong ! My managers and fellow staff were amazing ! The training, incentives and the amazing entire business set up was outstanding.... Its like one big happy family and the fun your have with your customers get better and better as you encounter the customers that return because of your service is so uplifting !!
The challengesThe only challenge I thought I would have would be working for someone and not my own business which I had for 40 years ! but I was wrong...I fitted in very quickly with the help of my Amazing Manager and fellow staff.

Expensive uniform, Unrealistic KPIsCustomers feel more confident when leaving the store with your advice and recommendations. You learn alot about Styling products. Expensive to uphold. You are expected to wear the recent clothing and Uniform Allowance only given if you meet budget every month. KPIs are unrealistic and it becomes more about how many items you can sell and how much you can sell than overall customer experience.

Overall, it was a discouraging and unproductive environment that negatively affected staff morale and professional development.
The good thingsmade nice life friends that I will still hang out with.
The challengesToxic work culture, Favouritism played at all levels of management, often based on personal relationships and flattery rather than actual performance. Gossip about other staff is a daily routine, even initiated by senior managers. A senior manager openly referred to a colleague in a derogatory way.

The good thingsFantastic manager. Amazing customers, fair working hours. I really believe in the company ts and the wonderful things they do for women
The challengesToxic staff member. Working with staff that say awful things about other staff and customers. Being in an environment where it’s common knowledge that it goes on but nothing is done about it. Customer service is all about the customer if a staff member hates the customers this much, they should go
