Undervalued and unsupported. Management focus on self-protection rather than resolving issues.
The good thingsPeers and colleagues outside of management have been the best aspect of working at Alfred Health; their support and camaraderie make challenging days more manageable and foster a sense of teamwork and solidarity.
The challengesClerical/administrative staff often feel undervalued, with management focus and recognition tending to favour clinical roles. Raising concerns—about workload, support, or conditions—rarely leads to meaningful change. Instead, management processes can feel protective of their own, so staff who speak up often feel sidelined or pushed out rather than supported. A positive shift would include recognition of admin staff, transparent complaint resolution, and a real commitment to addressing workplace issues constructively and inclusively. This would help build a culture of respect and fairness for all staff.
