Regular changes are made to the services / products covered & their payouts; Although consultants are trained in-advance of these changes, it an be difficult to stay a-top of all of every change made, so an exceptional cognitive (and technological) ability is a must for success in the role.
Current legislation prohibits health funds from contributing towards the cost of some everyday medical expenses, such as GP / after hours services, MRIs, PET, CT scans, ultrasounds & xrays. Understandably, this infuriates members, and consultants will often cop harsh criticism over these matters; consultants may find it difficult to shoulder this harsh treatment, time & time again.
