Course was great. Taught me a lot of new skills. But personally wasn’t enough information about how to start your own business or people/sites to help or help in finding a career in existing companies

The online learning portal is easy to use and follow. The assessments are well written and have specific details and requirements. The content is very current. It would be nice however to have more strict timelines to get tasks done.

The Certificate IV is an intensive and fascinating course that encourages creativity and passion while instructing on a variety of subjects. The course is split into the Art stream and the Programming stream. Both assume no prior knowledge and work from the absolute ground up to give you fundamental knowledge in either Art or Programming. The course is suitable to be taken by someone who has never touched Unity and C# or Photoshop and Maya. Although some prior knowledge of the software does help. There are two joint classes between the streams. One teaches about the Australian game design industry and gives advice on making connections and promoting in the industry. The other has you making games in composite groups of artists and programmers from the first class, giving you real experience working to a deadline and collaborating with others. The only small criticism is that the course ended up being 21 hours a week instead of the at the time advertised 18, which disrupted some people’s work schedules.

I learnt a lot of valuable skills at Tafe which I took with me into university. Although, in my opinion Tafe was much more comprehensive learning and I gained more from it than university.
