Studying Criminology has taught me transferrable skills such as being able to critically analyse complex issues and demonstrating integrity and personal resilience to critically engage in argumentation and discuss research, with a sound understanding of the best ethical practice

A fantastic course that I would highly recommend. If you're doing this course I would recommend doing the unit Crime Scene Management. It's held over Summer School however what you learn is highly relevant and hands on. I'm currently studying at the NSW Police Academy and have found I know so much already simply from paying attention while doing the degree.

The course overall is good, with most tutors having a policing background, and sharing their experience's to students. It made learning more fun and interesting and provided more information of what becoming a police officer felt like.

Wonderful course. Social work is needed to thoroughly work in the sector and the criminal/community justice aspect helped in working with clients who have been a part of criminal justice system. Wonderful staff and lecturers, part of a community, good quality work being done. Loved this course.

This course is made up of mostly theory. You receive no work credits and are left with a degree in a employment field with little opportunity. I thought by selecting my own electives for a sub major would help branch into other areas only to find no one is willing to hire social science students. I would highly suggest doing social work instead. Most teaching staff where helpful with great real world experience.

Studying at Western Sydney provided me the support I needed whenever I had circumstances that arised during the three years that had potential to set me back. Overall, the course covered a broad range of subjects and content which was important and interesting that would be needed in my future career. I had an amazing experience studying the course, though the university had a positive influence towards my overall experience.

Though, the theory that this course provides may be excessive as there is quite alot of content since it studies mostly about the justice system and how it's implemented within the community. It's also very interesting and to an extent fun as it studies the issues that police officers have to deal with everyday whether it be crimes, justice system and corruption within the police force. The content is mostly provided online making it accessible and convenient for most people, especially for those who cannot attend lectures and tutorials because of other commitments. Knowing full well about the content being excessive, the way it's delivered makes it alot easier to understand as it breaks down every content into smaller components. This let the students understand every small detail that comes with the course and career of working for the justice system. Though, do be aware that the assessments provided for this course is tiring and stressful(as with all assessments) as you will be undergoing alot of research on these assignments as most are centered around case studies on real life events. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the justice system, particularly something to do with policing as it will guarantee you a career with many possibilities and growth.
