I was weighing up whether to complete the degree at the city campus, or the diploma and I chose the diploma as it helped me build real practical skills to apply to a job.

It is a very commercially focused course and I think RMIT should do a big overhaul on the content and teachers and bring the course into the future of fashion a little more

I didn't feel it really equiped me well to go out and find a job. It was also too focused on heavily commercial industry, not even in high fashion. It would've been good if we got an idea of the high fashion industry not just fast fashion.

Much of what was taught could have been self taught online by viewing tutorials and YouTube videos or blogs. This course did not prepare students for working like or what to expect when entering the workforce for the first time in the industry. I very strongly feel I have a hecs debt to pay for something I pretty much could have researched myself. It’s a very expensive piece of paper. I’d recommend getting experience instead.

All you need is that one teacher that inspires you, at RMIT I was fortunate to have one that has lead me on a career path. Some parts of the course weren't the best but nothing is ever going to be perfect.

Best course to undertake if you want want to get into a career in design compared to other institutions. 1 year after graduating I am now a full time designer for a app development company, so it does work if you put effort in.
