The course was well set out and subjects were scheduled according to placement requirements- which really helped when preparing for placement in the classroom. Readings, assessment and subject content throughout the course of the degree allowed me to understand the workings of the education system, giving me an in-depth insight into the work of an educator today- preparing me for the future classroom.

The course itself is well structured and provides a fantastic scaffolding of support and is easy to understand for new students. James Cook University is extremely helpful to their students and go beyond their limited requirements to ensure that all students needs / abilities are catered for and this institution enlists a passion and drive in their students for further study.

I have found that most of the staff are not as concerned with helping students succeed as they like to think they are. That said, some HAVE been really good, helping out as much as they can.

Small classes, small campus, friendly vibe. Not vastly different with regard to content from QUT where I also studied.

A lot of content 1st and 2nd year was not useful during placement. Most industry knowledge was gained on prac. Course fees are low in comparison to other universities however.

JCU was quite good. There were some issues with the quality of lecturers and the facilities were abysmal. Overall the course prepared me adequately and I got a job.

I think it would have been beneficial to study more practical things (eg planning a writing session- discussing how to use the curriculum and a guide etc), as well as more practical experience.
