Why study this course

This program provides students with a sound scientific background in nutritional science, food and consumer science and the psychological, social and cultural factors influencing people's response to food and their eating behaviour. The emphasis is on the role of nutrition in the maintenance of health and wellbeing in different societies and the physiological, biochemical and epidemiological relationships with diet-related diseases prevalent in affluent societies. This course prepares graduates for employment in nutrition and community education environments, health promotion, government policy areas, the food industry, secondary teaching (in conjunction with teaching qualifications) and in other careers in biological sciences.
