The course itself had a great deal of content that is relevant to the working force. The only criticism I would have is the lack of practical experience you get. I have heard since completing my degree that they have added more of that component.
Response from Deakin University

Not enough practical learning. Following completing the 4 year degree I am unable to find work in any related field as the course did not provide any practical experience. I don't feel that I was actually taught a skill that is desired by employers or useful.
Response from Deakin University

Deakin is fabulous at providing online content and use best practice to ensure great delivery. Work load was unexpected though, very hard to study part time as a working mother.

The skills learned both academically and personally through studying at Deakin University meant that I was in a better position to successfully enter a Master of Clinical Psychology, which I graduated from in 2018. I was also provided with excellent opportunities to get involved and make a positive contribution to community, not only enhancing my personal development but also enhancing my newly established career as a Clinical Psychology Registrar.
Response from Deakin University
Thanks for your review. We are so glad that you got a lot out of the course. We believe that the best learning happens when you combine both theory and practical experience into the course.

Perfect length, great amount of elective slots, good in its flexibility, some subjects weren't really as advertised ( I'm looking at you, Addiction aka secret Health subject), but overall fine.

its a great course, just keep in mind its best if you're looking at doing post grad work. wouldn't recommend to do if you just wanna learn about psych theories. an arts degree would be much better for that

Broad coverage of subjects and interests in psychology, great teaching staff, flexible timetabling and provided an easy transition into a masters program due to having the Honours combined with the Bachelor degree.

Loved the course content in terms of theory. Lecturers were enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their subjects! I just wish there had been more of a focus on practical skills and placement. I walked out with loads of knowledge but no idea how to put it into practice. I found it difficult to balance the study load with life while I suffered from anxiety, but Deakin provided amazing support and flexibility for me which helped me complete my degree.
