Why study this course

Youth Work is an exciting and challenging career involving working for and with young people in a variety of fun and rewarding ways. The key thing that differentiates youth workers from other community service workers is that young people are their primary concern. Youth work acknowledges the social and cultural environments within which young people live and helps foster young people's emotional and social development. In addition to the core youth work units, students can choose between minors in counselling or sociology. Students will receive valuable practical experience in working with young people, in addition to the theoretical insights and practical competencies needed for dealing with the needs, problems and aspirations of young people.

Very good teaching staff who are highly knowledgeable. Always felt supported throughout my degree. Course content focuses on the reasons behing marginalisation and disadvantage impacting youth in today's society, opening the student's mind to the bigger picture. Ability to choose a Counselling major or a Sociology major. Modern learning facilities.

The level of support and opportunity extends beyond my expectations. This is not only extremely helpful but, imperative for growth, drive and durability in such a society. The lecturers soon turn into mentors, personal trainers and long life colleagues. The learning doesn't end in this life. Youth Work continues to evolve as society changes and I cannot think of a better style of learning than that which prepares you for: the here and now, the tomorrow and the future of working alongside young people in a week informed manner.
