I have had quite a good experience in this course. It isn’t what I was expecting at first as I already had previous fashion design and sewing experience so I’ve had to go over a lot of things for a second or third time, other than this it’s a welcoming place but deadlines are very close together as I’m sure they are at any other uni or tafe.

The course itself was worth it, a lot of knowledge and sewing experience gained. Although the teaching staff don’t always create an inspiring environment for all students. Overall, I am happy with having studied here but I wouldn’t go back for the same course.

Box Hill Institute is the best in Australia, I studied in the WA and Holmesgelen before, but Box Hill Institute is number one.

The Course uses Industry place practices with pattern making and industry sewing, and is hands on in teaching others how to sew in bulk and help get ready for the work force. The design and Business side is mostly theory and can sometimes be dry. you are able to practice designs but if you are not a good drawer then you may struggle.

Box Hill's fashion degree course covers all the necessary content to prepare students or the industry, an excellent balance of practical skills, creative freedom, theory, and workplace preparation. The main thing that sets Box Hill apart is the small class sizes and excellent support from the staff, especially after graduating, I'm still in regular contact with my teachers and they are always happy to help me out. Only down sides a lack of funding, and not quite as much prestige or opportunities as some of the bigger fashion schools. Some of the teachers were better than others but overall they were very knowledgable, genuinely care about their students, and want them to succeed.

Clearly outlined with easy to understand classes. Teachers were very encouraging and still continue to be helpful/supportive/approachable post graduation. Gave decent insight into what to expect of the industry. Creative and professional environment that allows focus and innovation.
