What's it like to be a Boilermaker?
Boilermakers are tradespeople who cut, shape, assemble and weld steel to construct and repair metal products and structures for boilers, ships, iron and steel structures and other vessels. How to become a Boilermaker
To become a Boilermaker you typically need to complete an apprenticeship. This usually takes three to four years.
- 1.Complete a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (MEM30319) as part of an apprenticeship. This will provide you with structured learning at a registered training organisation and workplace experience.
- 2.Consider gaining other relevant licences that may be preferred by hirers. This could be a White Card, which will allow you to work on construction sites, and other high risk work licences, such as a forklift licence. Some hirers may also prefer you to have a current driver’s licence.
