How to become a Business Intelligence Software Developer
You will need a combination of education and experience to work as a Business Intelligence Developer. Common pathways typically involve completing a bachelor degree in computer science or information technology. In some cases, completing a relevant masters degree can help you apply for more senior roles.
- 1.Complete a Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Computer Science.
- 2.Gain experience in programming by undertaking an internship or working in a Data Entry Clerk, Data Analyst or Junior Developer role. You typically need at least two to three years of entry-level experience before you can start applying for BI positions.
- 3.Familiarise yourself with tools and computer software commonly used by BI Developers such as JavaScript, HTML, Microsoft SQL and Oracle BI.
- 4.Further your professional development by reading books, attending lectures and staying up to date with the latest BI methods and technologies. The tools and methods that BI Developers use constantly evolve as technology advances.
