Car Detailers provide interior and exterior vehicle cleaning services. Their service involves simple washing and vacuuming to more intensive jobs such as applying waxes and protective chemicals to vehicles.
Tasks and duties
- Cleaning, vacuuming and deodorising vehicle interiors.
- Buffing, steaming, hosing and waxing vehicle exteriors.
- Applying cleaning and protective agents to enhance and maintain vehicle appearance.
- Moving and parking vehicles.
- Dropping off and picking up vehicles according to client requirements.
- Managing cleaning supply inventory and reordering when required.
- Ensuring client and business satisfaction.
- Maintaining records of vehicle appearance on file.
How to become a Car Detailer
You don’t need specific training in car detailing, but you may need to gain some qualifications to get started.
- 1.You’ll need a manual, unrestricted car licence. Contact your state or territory’s roads and traffic authority for more information on how to apply.
- 2.A Certificate III In Automotive Body Repair Technology (AUR32116) can be helpful to give your CV a boost, available at TAFE and other private colleges.
- 3.If you’re interested in learning about the finish on cars, consider completing a Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology (AUR32416).
